As a popular form of “experiential learning,” internships help college students connect their classroom learning with professional practice. Organizations that offer internships also benefit from the talent attraction and retention benefits of having interns. More often than not, successful interns are hired and retained by companies at less expense than advertising and hiring for full-time positions. It’s less risky, too, as companies are familiar with an intern’s capabilities and have an opportunity to train them while they are still in college.
