Engineering Success: Connecting Students to Jobs

“Linking Talent to Opportunity” connects college students with 223 bioscience jobs in NEO

NOCHE, the Greater Cleveland Partnership, BioEnterprise, and BioOhio successfully collaborated on the first  "Linking Talent to Opportunity in Bioscience" event last Thursday, September 29, 2011. Held in the newly opened first floor space at GCP, the event attracted seven employers looking to fill two hundred and twenty-three positions. Eighty-seven job seekers registered for the event and thirteen career services professionals from five schools attended.

The event began with a presentation by GCP, followed by opening remarks from Baiju Shah, President and CEO of BioEnterprise. The job seekers were anxious, however, to begin meeting employers. Recruiters from Ben Venue Laboratories, Oakwook Laboratories, Proxy Biomedical, Lexi-Comp, Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, Thogus Products, Codonoics, and Amresco all were accepting resumes and filling their talent pipeline.

One PhD candidate from the Ohio State University drove 4 hours roundtrip to attend the event.  She remarked, "I can send out resumes online all day long. Getting face time with employers - that is priceless."

And with 223 open positions to be filled, employers seemed to appreciate the opportunity just as much.

Check back for more "Linking Talent to Opportunity Events".  GCP and Cleveland will partner in November to link non-bio engineering students with employers.  More details as they unfold.
