Talent Development

Building Northeast Ohio's Talent Pipeline

NOCHE is at the forefront in developing regional talent, attracting and retaining talent from other regions, and aligning higher education with the needs and goals of regional employers. NOCHE's NEOintern.net program supports these efforts.

NEOintern.net offers students, higher education institutions, and employers a breadth of internship-related services. Students and employers connect online at www.NEOintern.net, using NOCHE’s database, which is connected to higher education career services offices throughout the region.

NEOintern.net also provides employer workshops around the region. These workshops help employers create or enhance internship programs.

NOCHE also works to increase the number of available internships and number of students completing internships in Northeast Ohio. To this end, NOCHE has developed special internship programs to focus marketing and development efforts on particular industries and opportunities. Current special internship programs include the following:

Entrepreneurial Internship Program

NOCHE is developing internships at the region’s entrepreneurial employers to increase the opportunities students have to gain real work experience in an entrepreneurial environment. Entrepreneurs in Northeast Ohio are matched with students completing relevant coursework by NOCHE staff at no fee. Employers are reimbursed 50% of each intern's wage (up to $500).

Third Frontier Internship Program

NOCHE is an administrator for the Third Frontier Internship Program, which reimburses employers for 50% of an intern’s wages, up to $3000. Only high-tech internships are eligible for reimbursement. For more information on this program, please visit http://thirdfrontierintern.ohio.gov.

These internship programs provide hands-on experience to supplement course work. They also strengthen student ties to the region, develop job opportunities for students in the region, and provide employers with an experienced talent pool.
